Tangaroa

Tangaroa is the God of the Sea. His gospel states that his worshippers are not allowed to sail on or swim in any oceans (only seas - this rules out most of the sailable oceans) and thus he is quite unpopular with mermaids, pirates, and other sailors. Most of his worshippers are land-dwellers, particularly those who live in coastal cities.

He has a strong rivalry with Merma, God of the Ocean.
